Sorrow, Joy and Gravity

Some movies need to be seen on the big screen. I think Gravity is one of them.

It is a "thrill ride" that grabs you from the beginning (like Star Wars, it has no opening credits), and it has giant visual appeal - two things that I think merit going to the theater, if your budget can afford it.

But it also has some depth, depth that I find reflected in John 16:17-22, a passage I am reading today. Sometimes, the answer to being stuck, isolated and full of pain and sorrow is more pain, like the pain of childbirth (or in this movie...well, you'll see).

I don't deal well with disappointment. Jesus' wisdom, reflected in a small way in this movie, is that you have to get through it.
